Heavy rains in parts of Assam, over 33,000 people affected Due to heavy rains in different parts of the state, many areas were flooded, affecting more than 33 thousand people.This information was given in an official bulletin on Tuesday. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati has forecast rain for the next two days, which may worsen the situation. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) in its bulletin said that the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh are affected due to rain in the state since Monday. A total of 33,836 people are currently affected by the disaster in 46 villages of eight revenue circles of these three districts.Though no relief camp has been opened yet, six relief distribution centers are functioning in Dhemaji district. According to the ASDMA report, an embankment has partially breached at Naoboicha in Lakhimpur district, while roads in Lakhimpur and Dhemaji have been damaged. The ASDMA bulletin also said that the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger mark at Nematighat in Jorhat district.The Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati said that till Wednesday, there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers at various places in 21 districts of the state.
