A total of 369 dengue cases have been reported in Assam since the beginning of October. Karbi Anglong had the highest number of 344 cases and 4 deaths, of which the majority of the cases were found in the district headquarters of Diphu.

More than 700 cases of dengue have been reported in Assam and Manipur and seven people have died. Assam has the highest number of cases and four deaths in Karbi Anglong hill district, Manipur has the highest number of cases and deaths in 12 of the state's 16 districts. According to the state health department, 375 cases of dengue have been detected in Manipur so far, which is the highest after 359 cases were reported in 2019. This year the disease has claimed three lives in the state and five people are undergoing treatment in hospitals.

      These cases were reported in 12 districts after they were detected in early June this year, said Dr AR Chishti, malaria officer of the state health department. "However, there is nothing to panic as the state health authority is taking all possible measures to control the disease." He said that people should be made aware about this disease and preventive measures should be taken at home level. Among the 16 districts of the state, Tengnoupal has the highest number of cases (200) followed by Churachandpur. (51), Imphal East (47), Imphal West (40), Bishnupur (10), Thoubal (10), Kangpokpi (8), Kakching (3), Chandel (2), Ukhrul (2), Senapati (1) and Tamenglong (1). However, no dengue case has been detected in Jiribam, Kamjong, Noni and Pherzawal districts till date.On the other hand, a total of 369 dengue cases have been reported in Assam since the beginning of October. This is followed by 11 cases in Kamrup Metropolitan District, 2-2 in Nalbari, Sibsagar, Dima Hasao and 1-1 in Darang, Dibrugarh, Kamrup Rural, Nagaon, Hojai, Sonitpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri districts. Cases came up. Officials said the first few cases were detected in the first week of October and continued to rise in the following weeks. While new cases are still being reported, doctors believe that they may come down in the next one or two weeks as the rains stop. Dr Ratul Takur, deputy superintendent of Diphu Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said, “Generally, we have fewer dengue cases in the Northeast region as compared to other parts of the country. The number of cases is very less in the hilly areas, but there has been an unprecedented increase this year. And measures like fogging have been taken. Dr Borsing Rongpi, Joint Director (Health), Karbi Anglong said, “We do not usually see such outbreaks of dengue in Karbi Anglong. We increased surveillance and testing only after the first few cases were detected. The positivity rate is very high and out of around 250 tests, around 200 are infected.
