All Assamese people except Lungi... Himanta raised questions, Mia Museum was sealed within 2 days of opening

The Assam government on Tuesday sealed a private museum in Gwalpara district. This museum was established by an organization of expatriate Muslims of Bangladesh origin. This museum was named Mia. It was opened here for the purpose of displaying agricultural equipment and other items for the distinguished people of their community.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media in Guwahati that the items put on display are traditional tools of the natives. Soon after the CM's statement, the Goalpara district administration sealed the Miya Museum in Lakhipur.

Teacher engaged in anti-government activities

The district administration said that this house has been built under PM Awas Yojana-Gramin. The museum was opened illegally in this, so it has been sealed. The police have also arrested the owner of the house, Mohar Ali. Mohal Ali is a government teacher. Which was already suspended for anti-government activities.

CM raised questions

The CM had said that how can the Nangol (plough), which was seen in the museum, be the property of the Miyans only? He belongs to Assamese community. The items used for fishing were also kept in the museum but these have been used by our Scheduled Castes for centuries. Nothing new there except lungi. He said that the management of the Miya Museum will have to prove that Nangols are exclusively used by the Miyas and not the Assamese people.

Himanta Biswa Sarma had given a warning

On Sunday the Asom-Miya (Asomiya) Council established the Miya Museum. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that if he opened Miya Museum with items used by Assamese people, a police case would be registered. He said that after Miya Kavita we saw Miya School and now Museum. I have always pointed to these challenges.

The house built in Dapkarbhita is mainly a village of Muslim families. Goalpara's Abdur Rahim Gibran has lodged an FIR with Lakhipur police station stating that the Miya museum has disturbed communal harmony and incited religious hatred. He accused the president and secretary of the Asom-Miya (Asomiya) Council of allegedly betraying the government.
